Nyah was in heaven. Before we even stepped through the gates she was calling out names of characters she could see pictures of. Once we got into the park and she saw some real characters she was in awe! We made sure to take pictures with as many characters as we could find and we succeeded except for Abby Caddaby who seems to have eluded us.
We took Nyah on the dry rides first since there were fewer to choose from and it looked like shorter lines. She loved that everywhere she looked there were Sesame Street characters either real or pictures. Once we had exhausted the dry rides and Nyah, we stopped for lunch and before we even had our trays Nyah was asleep. Aamir and I ate slowly and enjoyed the break from walking around until Nyah woke up (after an hour) ready for more!
Then we hit the water side of the park. Unfortunately Nyah was too small for the waterslides or some water play areas - even with Aamir so we stayed in the few splash pools and pads that Nyah was allowed to go in. Talk about crowded! There were so many kids and grown-ups running and splashing around that we couldn't leave Nyah down on her own! She loved the water and when we were dry, it was time to find a spot for the parade!
We found a great spot right in the front and we parked (the stroller) Nyah had a great view of everything and everyone. She called out all the characters names and we did too! Some of the characters came and hugged Nyah or shook her hand during the parade and Nyah was elated! I was so happy that she was getting so much attention from the characters!
After the parade we hit the gift shop looking for towels and t-shirts. Instead we came out with a block pillow with the characters on each side, stickers, coloring books, a photo album, magnet and some other random toys. Nyah wanted every stuffed animal but we already had the whole collection at home so I had to say no. In retrospect we should have bought some of the rarer character dolls since they are not available anywhere else.
Wait the trip isn't over!
The next morning we had reservations for breakfast with Cookie Monster (Elmo was busy) We woke up very early, packed up and got to the park way too early! The gates were still shut but we weren't the only early birds so we didn't feel so bad. After about half an hour of waiting and meeting other families in line, we entered the empty park - it was so strange to see the difference from the day before!
We headed to our breakfast spot and Cookie was waiting at the entrance to welcome everyone! Nyah posed with Cookie for some adorable pics and since the park was empty there was no one to rush us through our photo shoot! After Cookie we saw the count, Big Bird and Ernie and Bert! They were all there for photos, autographs and later came around to entertain us during breakfast. The Count came over and counted Nyah's bited with us, Bert came over for a kiss on the nose, Cookie came over and got another kiss, and at the very end we caught Ernie again for some more solo pictures (no offense Bert but Ernie is Nyah's favorite)
We went back into the park for some more rides and at this early hour there were no lines and we got to enjoy some time in the spongey block area. We had decided to see shows today as well as some more water play so we scheduled our playtime in between shows.
We got to see Elmo's World Live which Nyah loves on DVD but in person didn't seem so thrilled - except for Dorothy the fish. Mr Noodle's nephew was the Mr. Noodle and Nyah didn't like him at all! She kept saying "No Mr. Noonoo".
We also got to see the Big Bird Beach show for which we got front row seats in the splash zone! Nyah loved it because she could get up and dance and see all the characters and when Bert went looking for his seashell, he came and asked Nyah if she knew where it was!
After some more water play we headed over to see the parade again. However this time we didn't get a front row spot and it was less exciting and not nearly as interactive as the night before - not to mention it was too hot in the afternoon to be standing around. We tried to squeeze in one last show after the parade but by the time we sat down Nyah was out. We decided the show wouldn't be the same without her reactions to the characters so we left.
Nyah slept most of the way home and we were all pooped! It was a great weekend and I don't think Nyah will forget it for a while.
